Meet ‘Alf’ the Lowland Tapir!

Here are some fun facts and information about him!

IUCN Red List Status: Vulnerable.

Diet: Lowland Tapirs are herbivores, feeding on a mix of grasses, shrubs, browse and fruits. Alf’s favourite food is Sweet Potato!

Habitat: They are found throughout lowland regions of South America, in swamp forests, shrublands, and wetlands.

Fun Fact: Tapirs have a distinctive prehensile nose to forage with greater precision!

Alf joined us from Tilgate Park, a zoo in Crawley, where ‘Lil’ our six-banded armadillo went to live!
